Last night John and I played our third show together. The show took place at Kenny's place in Hamilton. We played inside a gutted old school bus in his yard. The bus was filled with couches and decked with christmas lights and candles. Kenny (Bow Legged Gorilla) played a phenomenal set after us, and we all kept the goodness going until the wee hours with singing, saw playing, and stories. Some friends of ours filmed throughout the night so maybe i will be able to share something later.

I finally got a job! I will be working as a barista and counter person for Bonjour bakery and cafe in Mt. Washington. It's owned by a french baker and his american wife. I met the wife. Her name is Gayle and she seems like she'll be a good boss. She's gonna let me do all the signs and fun stuff. This means I will be bringing home exquisite pastries.

in other news LAURA AND ALISA ARE MOVING IN DOWNSTAIRS YAAAY!!

Last week zach, brianne, julia, noel and I snuck into Otakon haha. i saw a guy dressed perfectly as Ol' Greg YESS. lots of fatty sailor moons also

Tonight I gave three of my roommates tattoos! I would like someone to tattoo lots of tiny things on me, like bikes, carrots, broccoli, weird animals (like elephant shrews and two headed cats and dragons),sailboats, scissors, flowers and flowers that look like fireworks, stars, lightning bolts and good words somewhere, maybe my calf by my arrow so that it turns out looking like a retardriot drawing but not so tiny that it will all blur together in 25 years

another thing i want to do is tattoo constellations onto my back. it would be really subtle and, if i did it right, would look like well-thought freckles. i'd use a brown ink i think or maybe a blue. when i was little i was so so so jealous of kids with freckles.

in a restaurant in asheville called the early bird there was a waitress with two full sleeves and they were beautiful. they were aqua, pink, white, red, and black and super cute with little flowers and spark things and animals and sugar skulls.

my friend emily laird has part of a sleeve of these little creatures she uses in all her work and she uses it like a coloring book.

I think the show went really well. Everyone's set was great. John just happened to bring his PA over earlier that day since he's moving in, and it's a good thing because Kenny's set probably would not have gone so smoothly without it. We forgot to have someone at the door to take money (oops). We were really hoping we could give Lesser and Kenny a substantial amount of travel money. However we did manage to gather 50 bucks through donations which was pretty cool so we were able to give them both 25, atleast. There were so many wonderful faces there! Everyone was so courteous so there was hardly any clean up required. Thanks!!! On a side note, I had so much fun being silly, but spaced on taking any photos.

i am a joose noob

today was really wonderful! I got pretty much completely moved into my new room and worked on the murals for a while and hung out. and then i got to spend time with most of my old roommates and it was so great! I miss them all so so much. Hopefully we'll all get to hang out more than we have been although it might not be too possible since everyone works such crazy schedules. Tonight was the first night it really felt like old times hanging out with Adam. I needed that. He's an amazing person, and for the longest time there's been this really awkward tension. I think moving out of 1403 rectified that situation. whew.

John Somers is for sure moving into our apartment!!! I'm so glad we could convince him to live with us. I always miss him when he's not hanging out in our apartment. His brother Alex is in the bands Parachutes and Rice Boy Sleeps. Alex has been dating Jonsi, the singer in Sigur Ros, for a long time. They live together in Iceland. Dreamland!

yay for sappy entries

p.s. casey, if George Washington doesn't cut the crap, I'm going to beat him up. Also, I'm still sad we couldn't take portaits with panda masks :(

chris taught me how to skateboard at three in the morning. we rode up and down guillford.

soon i'm moving into a bigger room in our apartment. It has a big window, and even without a loft it has more space. oh and i got an ac unit for my room so when it gets hot, come hang out with me!!

I had a dream that i started working at read st. and that they gave me a tattoo of diagonal stripes running the width of my entire middle finger. first i realized it was the stupidest tattoo ever and couldnt justify why i had chosen that finger. then i realized i had too many fingers and woke up.

today was beautiful so i rode to red emma's. as soon as i came to the block it was on my back tire blew out. it sucked but since there wasn't much i could do, i locked it up and tried not to fret over it. I and got a vegan maple donut and some books so the blowout wasn't pointless. dan told me that a friend of his makes the donuts. they are so delicious! it tasted so much better and richer than a non-vegan donut. after i walked my bike home and started fixing it. talked to my dad for a really long time which usually only happens four times a year. the conversations are rarely fun or pleasant but this one was. i called him mostly to talk about bike stuff and i think he really liked that. he feels that i don't try to communicate with him and that I only tell my mom what's happening in my life. i think he appreciated that i was calling just to talk to him and about things through which we relate. he's a really awesome person. he worked in one of the first schwinn shops in the US and still goes on weekly 60 mile rides. we just don't always get what the other person is trying to express. about 7 years ago my parents got a tandem and rode it a lot. then during and after france their relationship really suffered and they fought too much to be able to sit on a bicycle together. when i talked to my dad today he said they just got it back out and are thinking about riding it soon. my dad sad, "I think she loves me enough again to go riding with me." it broke my heart. he phrases everything to sound more tragic in a way. i do that too sometimes.
when i got back zach, zach, lee and I assisted zach with moving into the copycat! I'm pretty jealous of lee's space. he gets so much beautiful light in his room from two enormous windows, and the walls are a soft blue that reflects a lot of the light into the room. the ceilings are so high! I'm a terrible judge of height but they might be 20 feet. It motivated me even more to work on our apartment. It needs so much help I think we can do it. Living here is really growing on me. if we can keep the rear door shut we can keep out a lot of the creeps.

t's raining, and it's really relaxing. I'm going to miss our skylight.

Finals this semester were really unsatisfying. My classes all fizzled out.
I really want to paint again, finally, so I started reading this book: http://www.amazon.com/Pierre-Bonnard-Work-Suspending-Time/dp/9055446041/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1210345943&sr=8-1
It's really cool. Along with some excellent essays, it includes photos that Bonnard took and excerpts from his sketchbooks that are relevant to his paintings and works on paper. It's neat to see photos of the artist and his models and to relate them to photos of my friends and artists in the present.

Well, almost everything is moved to the copycat now. I'm going to sleep on our coach until friday night and then i'll make the switch. ooohf. It's been a long week. On monday I finally go talk to the maintenance guy and get that job sorted out. As soon as I find a job that pays above minimum wage, I'll probably quit the opera job. One of my new roommates, Steven, works at a crepe place in Fells Point and it pays a lot better than what I'm doing now. Towards the end of summer he is going to Madrid to teach English for a while, and he's going to see if he can just pass the job off to me. Exciting things are happening!! I will be 20 in nine days! It's summer! After tomorrow I will only have one and a half finals left!

My new room is like a coccoon in many ways. It is dark, small and strangely shaped. I'm excited about unpacking everything and making it feel like MY room.

comic update:
http://dropoutcomics.blogspot.com/2008/04/12-plastics.html

I think I got a job at the opera house. I'll just be selling tickets and making phone calls and the hours are awesome plus I get commission (so hopefully I'll be decent at it).
My ID has been expired for about a month now which meant i wouldn't be able to fly anywhere or take greyhound but i just figured out that you can renew TN licenses online which is pretty cool, and it should get here within 20 days.
